People who suffered disadvantages as a result of the Second World War are entitled to various benefits:

• Duplicates of expellee and refugee identity cards and late repatriate certificates,
• one-off benefits (capital compensation) in accordance with Section 17 of the Criminal Rehabilitation Act (StrRehaG),
• Certificate in accordance with Section 10 (4) of the Prisoner Relief Act (HHG) at the request of an authority,
• Determination of prisoner assistance status at the request of an authority,
• Benefits under the Occupational Rehabilitation Act (BerRehaG)

Entitled persons:

• Displaced persons
• refugees
• ethnic German repatriates who were admitted to the federal territory by 31.12.2004
• Former political prisoners

For initial applications for ethnic German repatriate certificates in accordance with the Federal Expellee and Refugee Act (BVFG) and certificates in accordance with § 100 BVFG at the request of an authority
