Overview

Genealogical research has recently become more and more interesting for people. Many people ask themselves the question: "Who are my ancestors?" or "Where do I come from?"

You can rely on the experience of the staff at the registry office to answer these questions. The registry office will help you find your ancestors for a fee.

The registry offices administer birth certificates from the last 110 years, marriage certificates from the last 80 years and death certificates from the last 30 years. Older certificates and other documents relevant to personal and family research are kept in Bonn by the city archives. Further information can be found under "Forms and links".

To make research easier, the information about the person(s) you are looking for, e.g. name, date of birth, marriage or death, should be as detailed as possible, as the amount of the fee depends on the amount of work involved in the search.
