Groundwater

Groundwater is a component of the ecosystem and potential drinking water. It must be managed in such a way that it serves the common good and also the benefit of individuals, while avoiding any avoidable impairment of its ecological functions. Regulations on protection and use are laid down in the Water Resources Act (WHG) and additionally in the State Water Act (LWG).

The Lower Water Authority of the City of Bonn monitors the quality of Bonn's groundwater. To this end, samples are taken from groundwater measuring points and analyzed in the laboratory. The overview monitoring enables a comprehensive assessment of the groundwater quality.
