The birth rate is falling, life expectancy is increasing and family and social structures are changing. The classic extended family, in which different generations live under one roof and everyone can contribute their talents, is now rare.
Living in a community with "relatives of choice" and/or friends is therefore becoming increasingly popular. It is about the search for new forms of community in society and a new way of living together rather than just providing for the elderly. New residential projects offer new qualities of living due to the various additional requirements such as intergenerational and generation-appropriate living, environmental orientation and neighborhood responsibility.
However, these residential properties are not offered on the regular housing market. Building and housing groups use their own initiative here by incorporating the group's ideas of communal living into the planning.
