Common contact point in the heart of Tannenbusch

The Neu-Tannenbusch district management team and the district police service move into new premises in the immediate vicinity at Oppelner Straße 126B. Mayor Katja Dörner, Police Commissioner Frank Hoever and District Mayor Jochen Reeh-Schall inaugurate the location with guests.

A golden key symbolizes the handover of the new rooms for the neighbourhood management and the police contact point in Neu-Tannenbusch: (from left) Martin Eder from the neighbourhood management, Bonn District Mayor Jochen Reeh-Schall, Mayor Katja Dörner, Police Commissioner Frank Hoever, Professor Dr. Klaus Schönenbroicher from the NRW Ministry of the Interior and Heinrich Falkenberg from Absolut Wohnbau and landlord of the new building.

Things are happening in the center of Tannenbusch: Modern residential and commercial architecture has been created on Oppelner Straße. The new building 126B now also houses a central point of contact for residents of the district. The Neu-Tannenbusch district management team has moved into new premises there, as has the Bonn police district service. Mayor Katja Dörner, Police Commissioner Frank Hoever and District Mayor Jochen Reeh-Schall will inaugurate the location with guests on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.

"Door to door, the police and district management are interacting with the local people here and contributing to the positive development of Neu-Tannenbusch," said Mayor Katja Dörner at the opening ceremony. She praised the commitment of the neighborhood office, which has changed many things for the better in Tannenbusch: "Through its work and its contact with important players and citizens in Neu-Tannenbusch, it develops an eye for the needs, opportunities and obstacles on the ground and can bring this perspective into urban processes," the mayor continued.

Bonn District Mayor Jochen Reeh-Schall added: "Safety starts locally, safety also has something to do with knowing and being seen. The opening of this contact point is an important step for the neighborhood and the district." Prof. Dr. Klaus Schönenbroicher from the NRW Ministry of the Interior gave a welcoming address.

"Important for people's sense of security"

Police Commissioner Frank Hoever is also pleased about the move to the immediate vicinity of the district office: "We are very happy to now have new, modern and attractive premises here in the Tannenbusch district. Our district police officers do very valuable work and are first and foremost close to the citizens. Their presence is important for people's sense of security and, of course, for objective security. So that they can do their work professionally, they also need reasonable framework conditions and I am very pleased that we can now offer them this great workplace. The new Tannenbusch contact point of the Bonn police is used by the district service there. The three colleagues can be contacted here by citizens with concerns and needs.

"Socially Integrative City" funding program made neighbourhood management possible

The neighborhood work in Neu-Tannenbusch is carried out by the Office for Architecture and Urban Development, BASTA for short. It began its work in 2012 when Neu-Tannenbusch was included in the "Socially Integrative City" funding program - a milestone in overcoming the challenges in the district. The team now works within the framework of systematic neighborhood management.

The Neu-Tannenbusch neighborhood management team has set itself the task of connecting residents and promoting coexistence in the neighborhood. It serves as a point of contact for questions, ideas for improvement, information and all concerns relating to the housing and living situation in the neighborhood. By promoting the commitment of local people, coexistence in the neighborhood and cultural and religious diversity and understanding, the neighborhood management contributes to the positive development of the neighborhood. Everyone is invited to participate and share their ideas. In this way, residents are involved in projects and measures in the district, district conferences, workshops and neighborhood forums.

"Open space" for everyone

The new district office has a separate office unit that is shared by the district managers. The entrance area with meeting table has an open design and can be used for meetings. There are plans to allow third parties to use the rooms outside of the district management's opening hours or to use them jointly during opening hours as an open space. In addition to Neu-Tannenbuch, there are currently four other projects that are being supported and funded by the City of Bonn as part of systematic neighbourhood management: Pennenfeld, Lannesdorf-Mehlem, Macke-Viertel and Auerberg.
