Corona booster vaccination: letter from the country to all persons aged 70

With a letter from NRW Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia informs all persons aged 70 and older about the possibility of a Corona booster vaccination. The city of Bonn started sending the letter to all seniors born in 1931 and older (a total of 3843 people) on Monday, October 25, 2021. The younger cohorts will receive the letter in the coming days or the next week.

"Studies have shown that the effectiveness of the Corona vaccination steadily declines, especially in seniors, about six months after the second vaccination. They are still well protected, but no longer to the same extent as shortly after the second vaccination. But you can do something about this! Those who are 70 years and older have the opportunity to be vaccinated a second time free of charge by their family doctor," the letter says.

This is expressly recommended by the Standing Commission on Vaccination (STIKO), which is based at the Robert Koch Institute. Thus the inoculation protection is again clearly strengthened. For this booster, at least six months must have passed since the last Corona vaccination. As a rule, the well-tolerated vaccine from BioNTech is administered. According to the state of NRW, vaccination is also possible during a home visit.

In addition, the NRW Minister of Health is promoting flu vaccination.

The next mobile vaccination campaigns

Meanwhile, the city continues its successful mobile vaccination campaigns, where everyone 12 years and older can get vaccinated against Corona. Since mid-July, 12,022 vaccinations have already been administered. Here are the next dates:
