Three Kings Market after Christmas 2024 for the first time

The Bonn Christmas market in Bonn city center is about to open: In 2023, it will take place from 24 November to 23 December inclusive. There will be a change and an innovation in 2024.

Next year, it will run from November 22 to December 22 - one day shorter, according to a decision by the Bonn district council. In addition, a so-called Three Kings' Market will be held on Remigiusplatz for the first time from 27 December 2024 to 6 January 2025.

Safety has top priority

Until now, the dismantling work on the night of December 23rd to 24th has always been carried out under extremely difficult circumstances. The entire square is cleared within ten hours, between the end of the event and 7 am. Heavy tractors and cranes are used for the work. So far there have been no serious accidents. As safety is the top priority for the city and the staggering of the dismantling work is intended to ensure greater safety, the 2024 Christmas market will end on 22 December.

In doing so, the city is also accommodating the market vendors. The fact that the market ends one day earlier means that their employees have enough time to travel home and celebrate Christmas with their families. The city's market office had surveyed all market vendors (artisans and showmen); a clear majority had spoken out in favor of the new event period.

Increasing attractiveness after the Christmas holidays

The Dreikönigsmarkt is intended to increase the attractiveness of the city center after Christmas and at the beginning of the new year. From December 27, 2024 to January 6, 2025, visitors will still be able to enjoy mulled wine or a snack while shopping in a cozy atmosphere. The market will also include other outlets such as confectionery.

The invitation to tender for the Epiphany market will be issued separately from the Christmas market. The city administration is planning to give the sales outlets that have been accepted for the Christmas market on Remigiusplatz the opportunity to also take part in the Three Kings Market.
