Municipality has accommodated 2,200 Ukrainian refugees

The Federal City of Bonn has accommodated 2,200 people who have fled Russia's war of aggression on Ukraine and are seeking shelter in Bonn. As of May 19, 2022, 307 people have been placed in municipal shelters, 160 in apartments and 1,155 in hotels, while another 578 people have been placed in private accommodations.

From February 24, 2022 up to and including May 18, 2022, a total of 3,891 refugees registered at the Service Center of the Citizens' Services in Bonn. Of these, 229 have since moved again - 171 within Germany, 46 abroad and 12 to unknown destinations.

The Foreigners' Registration Office has meanwhile issued 2,900 so-called fictitious certificates based on the applications for a residence permit. The fictitious certificate contains the passage that any gainful employment is permitted. How many people have actually taken up work in the meantime is not known to the city administration, since the specific employment does not have to be approved.

The Office for Social Affairs and Housing has now registered around 3,000 people in the payment system, of whom around 2,700 are already receiving benefits under the Asylum Seekers' Benefits Act.
