City awards funding for international and sustainable projects

In 2023, the City of Bonn will again award funds for projects that contribute to development education work and the strengthening of Bonn's project partnerships as well as the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. The funds are aimed in particular at smaller Bonn-based organizations or initiatives.

In terms of content, the funding program is based on the "Concept for the Future of Bonn as an International Political Location”, which the Council adopted on January 30, 2014. The maximum grant for all projects is 3,500 euros per measure. The project duration is set until February 29, 2024. All events must have been carried out by this date.

The Committee for Europe, International Affairs, Science, Economics and Labor is expected to decide on the allocation of funds at its meeting on June 21. Projects started before then are not eligible for funding. The call is subject to budget availability.

Submit applications by March 29

The eligibility criteria, application form and required attachments can now be downloaded and completed on the city's website at  www.bonn.de/aeiwwa-foerdermittel (opens in a new tab) (in German). Applications may be submitted through Wednesday, March 29.

Please note: Applications must be submitted in writing to the Department of International Affairs and Global Sustainability, Ms. Jennifer Wetjen, Altes Rathaus, Markt, 53111 Bonn, Germany. Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to send the application documents digitally.

The postmark of receipt at the City of Bonn is valid. Applications submitted too late cannot be considered. Sending the application on the last day of the deadline is therefore not sufficient.

Applications should include:

  • A fully completed application form. The project description in the application form must comprehensibly explain how the measure to be funded serves the objectives as specified (promoting the implementation of Agenda 2030 or development education work and / or strengthening Bonn's project partnerships).
  • The form of the cost and financing overview with all expected expenses as well as all income. Any own resources and contributions - for example in cash, human resources, voluntary work, contributions in kind - must also be listed.
  • In addition, the desired amount of funding must explicitly be stated. Total funding must not exceed 3,500 euros.
