Coronavirus: City approves drive-in cinema and drive-in concerts

A total of 661 confirmed cases of coronavirus were recorded by the city of Bonn on Friday, May 1, 2020. Since then, 457 people have recovered, six have died and 1085 people are in quarantine. This means that 198 Bonn citizens are acutely ill. On Thursday, April 30th, the district government had reported another resident of the Ermekeilkaserne initial reception facility as having tested positive. This means that 41 of the 271 refugees accommodated there are acutely ill.

Also on Thursday, the city issued the permits for a drive-in cinema and a car concert venue. The drive-in cinema can be set up on the so-called Miesen site in Bonn-Dottendorf, concerts are possible on the site between the former slaughterhouse and the railway tracks of the Bahn AG. In both cases, the following conditions apply, among others: Only two persons per vehicle are allowed, for additional persons the rules that have been issued for the contact ban in public apply. Passengers are not allowed to leave the cars, convertible tops must remain closed, the entire body must be inside the car. The sound may only be transmitted to the car radio via the transmission frequencies that the organisers must apply for. The cars must be at least 1.50 metres apart.

A maximum of 300 cars are allowed in the drive-in cinema. The operation must end at 10 pm, on Fridays and Saturdays at midnight. The permit can be revoked at any time, but is valid for a maximum of three months. It expires automatically when local cinemas are allowed to reopen.

A maximum of 167 vehicles are permitted on the site for car concerts, with the end of play at 10 pm. This permit is also valid for a maximum of three months and expires earlier if the relevant restrictions of the Corona Protection Ordinance are lifted. The use of horns and headlights as a substitute for applause is expressly prohibited.
