Corona: incidence value decreases to 70.7

The corona incidence for Bonn decreased from 84.3 to 70.7 from Thursday, June 3, 2021, to Friday, June 4, 2021 - a decrease of 13.6 points.

The reason for the lower incidence is that while 20 new cases have been added, 65 infections reported eight days ago have dropped out of the 7-day incidence. No additional positive cases have currently been added to the outbreaks in three extended families.

In order to get to the bottom of the causes for the high incidence figures, the city will conclude a contract with Infas 360 and the University Hospital of Bonn in the short term for a microgeographic analysis of the pandemic. Starting early this week, the city will also distribute multilingual flyers in those areas where incidence numbers are high. In them, it is advertising to get vaccinated when prioritization is lifted starting Monday, June 7.

In addition, Mayor Katja Dörner said, "We need best additional vaccine." On Friday, she again turned to Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann to lend weight to this already expressed wish. "In view of the development of the infection in Bonn, we urgently need a special quota of vaccine or, for example, also the agreement that we can use still existing vaccine from Johnson & Johnson, even if it is only a few hundred doses, for targeted actions. Otherwise, we won't get anywhere. Support from the country would be very helpful in this situation, even though I'm aware of the tight situation with vaccine supplies."

In the past seven days, the health department has registered 233 new infections. 468 citizens of Bonn are acutely infected. Meanwhile, 13,655 people are considered recovered, 243 people have died in connection with Covid-19. This brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 14,366 since February 18, 2020. 1042 people are currently in quarantine.

The situation in the hospitals continues to ease. At present, 61 people from Bonn and the surrounding area who have contracted Covid-19 are in Bonn hospitals. 44 patients are being cared for in normal wards, 17 people are in intensive care units, 13 of whom require ventilation.

In the meantime, 175,982 initial vaccinations against the coronavirus have been carried out in Bonn, and 73,144 people have also received the second vaccination.

Mask obligation extended

With a general decree, the city of Bonn extends the obligation to wear a mask in the pedestrian zones of Bonn and Bad Godesberg, in the shopping streets in Beuel and Hardtberg, and in Poppelsdorf on Clemens-August-Strasse until June 24, 2021. The obligation to wear an everyday mask has been extended in time for Poppelsdorfer Allee, the associated green areas and Clemens-August-Strasse from 10 a.m. to midnight daily.

Mouth-to-nose covering (including scarves, shawls or other covering made of cloth) must be worn at the main train station, Bertha-von-Suttner-Platz and Konrad-Adenauer-Platz from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and in all other areas between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. A corresponding card is available  here.

A masking obligation also applies in the vicinity of Bonn schools. All persons who are within 100 meters of a school facility (elementary schools, secondary schools, vocational schools, continuing education facilities) in connection with school use are required to wear a mouth-to-nose mask between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.. This applies in particular to entrance areas. The surroundings of school facilities are considered to be all adjacent streets and public traffic areas that lie within a 100-meter radius of this facility.

No more mandatory testing at the municipality

As of Monday, June 7, 2021, access to all municipal service buildings of the city administration will again be possible without a negative test result. In this way, the municipality is joining the regulations in the retail sector, where a test is also no longer required.

Citizens will still need an appointment, and at least one medical mask must be worn.
