Open House at Villa Hammerschmidt: Great demand for tickets

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier invites visitors to explore his official residence in Bonn on Saturday, June 18, 2022, from noon to 7 p.m. There is high demand for the tickets needed for access.

The Office of the Federal President, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Federal City of Bonn will offer an extensive program of talks, music and hands-on activities at the open day in the park of Villa Hammerschmidt and in the adjacent park of Palais Schaumburg. Guests can learn about the work of the Federal President, and several federal authorities as well as German and international organizations will also present their work. President Steinmeier will welcome guests from the main stage in the afternoon.

Admission only with ticket and photo ID

Unlike in previous years, visitors will need a ticket and an official photo ID for admission. The free tickets are available online at Due to high demand, tickets for the tour of Villa Hammerschmidt, the Chancellor's Bungalow and the historic rooms at the BMZ are unfortunately already fully booked. Any remaining tickets will be available for booking starting Thursday, June 16, 2022, at 11 a.m.. Tickets for the program in the parks are still available.

Bonn presents itself as an international city

On the grounds, Bonn will present itself as an international city together with international partner organizations. For example, Bonn-based institutions of the United Nations in Bonn (UN Bonn), UN Refugee Aid, UNICEF, German UNESCO Commission, German United Nations Association, Welthungerhilfe, BIMUN/SINUB and the City of Bonn's annual partner, Femnet, will participate. Background Villa Hammerschmidt

The last time an open house was held at Villa Hammerschmidt was in 2018. Since 1950, the Villa on the Rhine has been the official residence of the Federal President. In 1957, Schloss Bellevue in Berlin was added as another official residence of the head of state. To this day, Villa Hammerschmidt is regularly used as the official residence of Bonn for official occasions.
