Fewer new arrivals of refugees from Ukraine

As of Wednesday, July 20, 2022, a total of 4,401 refugees from Ukraine have registered in Bonn since the end of February, 529 of whom have already moved away.

The city registers significantly fewer new arrivals of Ukrainian refugees. Approximately three to eight new arrivals are registered per week. At peak times, there were still up to 40 people per week.

The city administration has accommodated 2,388 people - 664 in city shelters, 244 in apartments, 843 in hotels and 637 people were placed privately.

Ukraine hotline to be operated only on weekdays in the future

Starting next weekend, the city administration will change the operating hours of the telephone hotline for arranging private accommodation for refugees, the so-called Ukraine hotline. The task of the hotline is to arrange private accommodation for Ukrainian refugees. The service is hardly used on weekends. The Ukraine Hotline (tel. 77 4900) is now open from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

"We are concentrating our offers on those that are really accepted and that are important," explains Social Affairs Officer Carolin Krause. "Ukrainians are increasingly coming to the town hall in person with their various concerns. They are then advised accordingly on the spot or referred to the appropriate office. The Ukraine hotline will of course continue to be available during the week for the calls that are still coming in and the personal appearances of the refugees."

Shelters

The city of Bonn now operates three larger shelters for refugees from Ukraine: in the borough of Beuel, this is Siebengebirgsstraße 200 in Roleber; in the borough of Bad Godesberg, it is Mallwitzstraße 2-4 in Lannesdorf and, since July 18, Wielandstraße 4 in Rüngsdorf. The capacities still available there will be used to relocate the refugees currently still housed in hotels. First of all, relocations will be made from hotels that cannot offer cooking facilities or full board. The corresponding Godesberg hotels are therefore already no longer used in the meantime, so that the catering for Ukrainian refugees in the St. Augustine parish hall will be open for the last time on July 26, 2022. In the accommodations, people will again be able to cook for themselves and their families.
