Mask obligation in the city center is extended

Due to the sharp rise in Corona infection cases and the highly contagious Omikron variant, the City of Bonn extends the mask obligation in the city center of Bonn. It is valid up to and including Wednesday, February 9, 2022.

The city of Bonn published a corresponding general decree on Wednesday, January 12, 2022; it comes into force on Thursday, January 13, 2022. The mask obligation is intended to protect the citizens* against infections, because in the pedestrian zone of Bonn many people meet and it is all too often not possible to keep 1.5 meters distance. On weekdays between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., at least one medical mask or FFP2 mask must be worn on the following streets and squares:

  • Acherstraße, Bonngasse, Brüdergasse, Dreieck
  • Budapester Straße from Thomas-Mann-Straße to Sternstraße
  • Friedensplatz, including the adjacent public paths, streets (Sterntorbrücke), and squares
  • Friedrichstraße between house numbers 2 to 64 and 1 to 61
  • Gangolfstraße and In der Sürst
  • Kaiserplatz, including the adjoining public paths, streets and squares
  • Kasernenstraße from house numbers 1 to 5 and 2 to 32
  • Markt, including the adjacent public ways, streets (Marktbrücke and Bischofsplatz)
  • Martinsplatz, in the area of house numbers 6 to 9
  • Maximilianstraße from house number 6 to 46, on both sides including the adjacent public paths, streets and squares
  • Münsterplatz square
  • Mülheimer Platz, Bottlerplatz including Münsterstrasse up to the height of Poststrasse
  • Poststrasse
  • Remigiusplatz, Remigiusstrasse
  • Mauspfad, Sternstraße, Sterntorbrücke, Stockenstraße
  • Thomas-Mann-Strasse from house numbers 1 to 57 and from house numbers 2 to 64
  • Vivatsgasse, Windeckstraße
  • Wenzelgasse, Wesselstrasse

In addition, the municipality draws attention to the fact that, in accordance with the requirements of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, masks will generally be compulsory outdoors from Thursday, January 13, 2022, in queues, queuing areas and directly at sales booths, checkout areas or similar service counters.
