Corona protection measures expire on March 1, 2023

The corona protection ordinance in NRW expires on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. The City of Bonn draws attention to this.

From Wednesday, March 1, 2023, only federal law will then apply in North Rhine-Westphalia. Specifically, only the mask requirement for visitors in hospitals, nursing homes, doctors' offices and other healthcare facilities will remain in place until April 7, 2023.

The provisions of the Coronavirus Testing Ordinance that govern the conduct of citizen testing will also expire on March 1, 2023. This also ends the testing requirement for visitors* in hospitals and nursing homes. The mandates of the testing centers expire by law. The extent to which there will continue to be test centers in Bonn will depend to a large extent on the operators of the test centers, who now bear all the costs of testing themselves or pass them on to the citizens as fees/cost contributions. Of the original 426 active test sites (including pharmacies and doctors' practices) in Bonn, around 100 are still registered as active as of February 27, 2023. The Bonn Health Department expects this number to continue to decline.

Meanwhile, corona incidences have increased statewide and nationwide. This was to be expected as a result of the seasonal cold wave and the carnival days. As of Monday, February 27, 2023, the incidence value for Bonn relative to 100,000 female residents is 149.1. In the past seven days, 495 new Corona infections (positive PCR tests) have been reported to the city health department.
