Corona incidence value falls below 60

After the corona incidence value for Bonn has slowly but steadily decreased in recent weeks due to the lockdown, it has now fallen below 60. It is on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at 58.5 related to 100,000 inhabitants. In the past seven days, 193 new infections have occurred.

A total of 9105 confirmed Covid 19 cases have been reported to the Health Department since February 28, 2020. While 8675 people are considered recovered, 258 people are currently infected. 172 people have died in association with the coronavirus. The two most recent deaths involve two seniors, 83 and 94 years old. The city does not know if they had pre-existing conditions. 611 Bonn residents are currently in quarantine. 

So far, 51 cases of the British variant and one case of the Brazilian variant (associated with travel) have been detected in Bonn.

There are currently 85 people from Bonn and the surrounding area in Bonn hospitals who have contracted Covid-19. Fifty-eight patients are being cared for in normal wards, 27 people are in intensive care units, 20 of whom require ventilation.


In Bonn, as of February 17, 2021, a total of 17,114 people have received the initial vaccination against coronavirus:  Of these, 6,451 initial vaccinations were given in all care facilities, 3,481 in hospitals, 4,160 at the University Hospital and 2,646 at the Vaccination Center at WorldCCBonn. In addition, 376 emergency service personnel received their first injection.

4,246 people in 40 of 48 care facilities and in 5 of 7 day care facilities have already been vaccinated for the second time. 910 second vaccinations have taken place in the hospitals, and another 400 at the University Hospital. 231 ambulance service workers have also received the second vaccination. At the Vaccination Center, the second vaccinations will start on Monday, March 1 - exactly three weeks after the Vaccination Center went into operation. At that time, the vaccination center will go into a two-shift operation and will be open seven days a week, including mornings.

Mask requirement extended again

Once again, the city of Bonn has extended the obligation to wear an everyday mask in the pedestrian zones of Bonn and Bad Godesberg as well as the main shopping streets in Beuel and Hardtberg. Analogous to the current Corona Protection Ordinance, the general order published on February 17, 2021, is valid up to and including February 21, 2021.

Mouth-to-nose covering (including scarves, shawls or other covering made of fabric) must be worn at the main train station, Bertha-von-Suttner-Platz and Konrad-Adenauer-Platz from 7 am to 10 pm. In all other areas, masks are compulsory between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.  A corresponding card is available at However, a medical mask (surgical mask, FFP2 mask or comparable mask such as KN95/N95) must be worn when shopping, visiting the doctor, on buses and trains and at bus stops.

In addition, with the general order, the city extends the regulations for automatic quarantine for people who learn that they have been in contact with someone who has tested positive.

Controls of the city order service

Since Weiberfastnacht, February 11, the city's public order service and the GABI police station (Gemeinsame Anlaufstelle Bonn-Innenstadt) have recorded 171 health protection missions. In the process, 61 charges were written, including 14 charges for violations of the mask requirement on buses and trains and 30 charges against revellers at four private carnival parties.
