All positive Corona cases are screened for mutations

The public health department of the city of Bonn is having all positive coronavirus cases tested for mutations with immediate effect. The aim is to find out to what extent the British variant, which has already been detected in Bonn, or other mutations, if any, prevail.

As of Monday, February 15, 2021, 41 cases of the British variant of coronavirus have occurred in Bonn to date. The corona incidence value is 67.3 related to 100,000 inhabitants. In the past seven days, 222 new Covid 19 infections have been reported.

During the nights of Friday and Saturday, February 12 and 13, Corona counts could not be transmitted to the NRW State Health Center. An error occurred during transmission with the corresponding software. The cause is not known to the city of Bonn. Since the night of Sunday, February 14, the figures are transmitted correctly again.  

Since February 28, 2020, a total of 9057 confirmed corona cases have been recorded. While 8607 people are considered recovered and 284 people are currently infected, 166 people have died in connection with the corona virus. The most recent case involves an 86-year-old woman; information on previous illnesses is not available to the city. 661 Bonn residents are currently in quarantine.

No further cases have occurred in the refugee shelter, where two large families were immediately housed outside the shelter a few days ago after a positive case and 16 people tested positive (British variant). The second series of tests of all residents and all employees was also negative.

There are currently 84 people from Bonn and the surrounding area in Bonn hospitals who have contracted Covid-19. 58 patients are being cared for in normal wards, 26 people are in intensive care units, 20 of whom require ventilation.

Balance of the city order service for carnival days

Overall, the carnival days have been calm according to the assessment of the city order service. The citizens have shown understanding and understanding and have complied with the Corona rules.

They ensured that the carnival music, which was clearly too loud for the evening hours, was turned down. Fortunately, there were no violations of Corona rules during the carnival days in the city center by revelers.
