6690 vaccine doses available at short notice for over-60s

The state of North Rhine-Westphalia has announced 450,000 short-term vaccinations for people aged 60 and over across the state over the Easter weekend. Appointment bookings for these will be available from Easter Saturday. From Easter Sunday, the city of Bonn will expand operations at the vaccination center to ten vaccination routes.

According to the announcement, appointment booking for these additional doses of AstraZeneca vaccine for over-60s, available at short notice, will start from 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2021. Bookings can be made with the National Health Insurance Association either online at or by calling 0800-11611701. The state has indicated that the appointment process for 79-year-olds will not be affected by the changes. It will start as planned at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2021.

Bonn has been allocated 5,910 vaccine doses (for the week beginning Monday, April 4) and 780 doses (for the week beginning Monday, April 11) for this special campaign. In order to handle the additional appointments, the city is expanding operations at the vaccination center in the World Conference Center Bonn at short notice by two more vaccination lines to ten. This means that up to 1,800 vaccinations a day will be possible at the vaccination center over the next few weeks. Incidentally, it will also be open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the Easter holidays.

Appointments still available for over-50s at the vaccination center

For the group of over-50-year-olds with pre-existing conditions according to §3 paragraph 1 No.2 of the Corona Vaccination Ordinance, there are currently still about 1000 vaccination appointments available at the Bonn Vaccination Center. People who belong to this group can contact their doctor's office. From them they will receive a corresponding certificate and a link to the city's online booking tool. It is expected that from Wednesday, April 8, people from this group of people can also get vaccinated in doctors' offices. However, the city expressly points out that this applies exclusively to patients who meet requirements under Section 3 of the Corona Vaccination Ordinance.

53,316 initial vaccinations in Bonn

Up to and including Wednesday, March 31, 2021, a total of 53,316 first-time vaccinations against the corona virus have taken place in Bonn, 27,492 of them in the vaccination center at WorldCCBonn. The number of second vaccinations carried out is 20,374, of which 6,516 in the vaccination center.

Incidence value is 122.5

The corona incidence value for Bonn on Thursday, April 1, 2021, is 122.5 based on 100,000 inhabitants. The number of new infections in the past seven days is 404. Two smaller outbreaks in a facility housing refugees with six persons and a daycare center with seven affected persons, respectively, were reported by the city on Thursday, April 1, 2021. Overall, outbreak activity otherwise remains diffuse. Of the 16 affected daycare centers, there are two cases each in four facilities, and one each in all others. Eleven schools record one case each, and one has three known infected individuals. In total, there are 12 affected persons in the schools and 18 in the daycare centers.

Since Feb. 28, 2020, a total of 10,598 confirmed Covid 19 cases have been recorded. 9,723 people are considered recovered, and 664 are currently infected. 211 people have died in association with coronavirus. The most recent deaths involve three women, ages 102, 93 and 76; the health department has no information on prior illnesses. 1,938 Bonn residents are currently in quarantine.

As of Wednesday, March 31, the health department has registered a total of 812 cases of coronavirus mutations (799 times the British variant, 2 times the Brazilian variant, and 11 times the South African variant) since January 28, 2021. From March 22-28, there were a total of 357 new SARS-CoV-2 cases, 215 of which were of variant virus; this represents a rate of 60.2 percent. Currently, there are 333 cases with UK variant and 11 cases with South African variant in quarantine.
