Save the date: Bonn SDG Days, September 10 to October 1
The Bonn SDG Days 2023 will take place from September 10 to October 1, as Bonn's traditional contribution to the German Action Days on Sustainability and the Global Week to #Act4SDGs. All interested parties can participate with program items.
The event will kick off once again with the #ZeroHungerRun organized by Welthungerhilfe, for which the City of Bonn has been requested as a cooperation partner. All members of the international community in Bonn are cordially invited to join the run with their families, friends, colleagues or by themselves to send a strong signal for a world without hunger.
Friedrichstraße will once again become a 17-Goals Action Zone with the symbolic umbrella roof in the colors of the Sustainable Development Goals. In cooperation with the One World Promoter for Bonn and southern NRW, the Bonn Network for Development and the Real Estate and Location Community Friedrichstraße, the business partners will be approached to bring their commitment to the public through events or information during the campaign period.
Information booths and campaigns at Friedrichstraße and elsewhere will provide information about the SDGs and solicit support for their implementation in Bonn with numerous partners. For example, the first Sustainable Business Action Day of the new Sustainability Hub Bonn Region will take place during the Bonn SDG Days. An event is also planned together with DGVN with reference to an international two-day event on the mid-term review of the 2030 Agenda in New York on September 20 and 21, 2023.
Review: SDG Days 2022
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, known to many by the acronym SDGs, are a daily subject here in the German UN City and sustainability hub, and a matter of the heart both, for the City and its citizens. A large number of initiatives are committed to the local advancement of sustainable development.
The motto of the action days from September 25 to October 11 has been again: "17 Days for the 17 Goals“.
#ZeroHungerRun - athletic kick-off
The #ZeroHungerRun took place in Bonn’s Rheinaue park on Sep 25. Organized by Welthungerhilfe in close cooperation with the City of Bonn, it has been the athletic kick-off to the Bonn SDG Days. Katja Dörner, Mayor of Bonn, and patron of the run and the Secretary General of Welthungerhilfe, Mathias Mogge, cordially invited everyone to join this charity run - as a signal of global solidarity to go out from Bonn!
17 Goals Zone Friedrichstrasse
During the promotion period, Friedrichstrasse with its numerous owner-operated stores, including those whose business focuses on fair trade, again had become the visual 17 Goals Zone with an umbrella roof in the colors of the Sustainable Development Goals. The City of Bonn's Department of International Affairs and Global Sustainability, the Bonn Network for Development, the One World Promoter for Bonn and southern NRW, and Immobilien- und Standortgemeinschaft Friedrichstraße Bonn e.V. presented Bonn's activities to implement the 17 Goals and join hands to generate new momentum. Sustainability was also addressed in the stores.
