The German United Nations City provides new platforms to constructive dialogue on the national, international and supranational levels. Time and again, fresh momentum goes out from Bonn and its actors on the road towards worldwide sustainable development.

Around 150 NGOs are working in Bonn in the fields of development co-operation, peacekeeping, renewable energies, and sustainable resources management. These include organisations such as the ICLEI (Local Governments for Sustainability) and the International Paralympic Committee IPC, international aid organisations such as Deutsche Welthungerhilfe, Care and Help, and political development lobbying organisations such as Germanwatch. In addition, the Fairtrade Labelling Organisation (FLO), Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), and International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) certification organisations are all based in Bonn. Scientific and research institutions value the excellent working conditions and interdisciplinary networking available in one of Europe's densest scientific regions. Various global players, such as Deutsche Telekom or Deutsche Post DHL, are headquartered in Bonn. Together with approximately 800 IT companies, they make for the city's innovative potential. Deutsche Welle (DW), one of the world's leading international radio and television broadcasters, also has its headquarters in our city, broadcasting in 30 languages. The Federal Press Conference maintains an office in Bonn for correspondents working here.
