SID - Society for International Development / Chapter Bonn

The SID Chapter Bonn forms part of the Society for International Development. It was the first of the five German chapters to be founded in 1961. The remaining German chapters are located in Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich.
According to its statutes, SID Chapter Bonn aims at

  • promoting the exchange of experience on a national and international basis among persons and institutions engaging in cooperation between less developed and industrialized countries
  • consolidating cooperation between science and practical experience and linking different research disciplines active in the field of development policy
  • raising awareness among the public for development policy and,  for these on-the-ground activities, cooperating with the remaining SID chapters in the Federal Republic of Germany.

SID Chapter Bonn places an emphasis on promoting the exchange of experience and expertise among practising experts and the scientific community in the field of development cooperation.
Members of the board of SID Bonn are predominantly persons active in the field of development cooperation. DIE acts as host for the mostly monthly meetings.

The Society for International Development is active worldwide and constitutes the oldest, politically independent organization bringing together persons from the field of politics, economy and civil society who are dealing with issues of international development and international cooperation.  SID constitutes an international NGO with 2000 members in 80 countries around the globe, 55 member institutions and 43 local chapters. The international SID Secretariat is based in Rome.
