The Service Agency Communities in One World (SKEW) supports local authorities in Germany in their development policy commitment at home and abroad. Together with international partner organizations, the Agency seeks solutions for municipal practice. The center provides - with financial support from the Federal Government and the federal states - services relating to information, advice, training and networking of decision-makers from municipalities. The Service Agency promotes processes that enhance the participation of citizens when it comes to the development of innovative ideas and practices to meet the challenges in a globalized world. SKEW offers comprise conferences, workshops, networking and consulting for topics relating to sustainability, fair trade, climate protection and adaptation or migration and development. Moreover, the Service Agency offers guidelines, studies, recommendations for action as well as event and project documentation. There are four strategic areas of action in which the Service Agency tackles future-oriented topics: participatory budget, intercultural skills training, fair procurement and municipal sustainability partnerships. SKEW also organizes the competition ‘Fair Trade Capital’, which recognizes and raises awareness for the commitment of municipalities to fair trade.
SKEW is a division of Engagement Global gGmbH - Service for Development Initiatives.
