The Senior Expert Service (SES) - an association of the German economy for international cooperation - is the leading German non-profit organization for volunteer work and assignments of retired senior experts and executive staff. Founded as a non-profit association in 1983, it aims at providing help for self-help on site.
Approximately 10,000 senior experts from all commercial, technical, medical and social fields of work as well as qualified skilled workers have registered with SES to date. On a voluntary basis, they have agreed to provide expertise and have completed 25,000 assignments to 160 countries since 1983.
SES experts predominantly support small and medium-sized enterprises, public institutions and administrations as well as educational and professional training facilities. SES assignments focus on developing or emerging countries and those in transition.
In Germany, SES offers counselling services to schools and to young people who intend to start a career or vocational training.
SES receives financial support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
