KfW Group is a promotional bank for future-oriented ideas - in Germany, Europe and in the rest of the world. It promotes investments in the future made by citizens or small and medium-sized businesses as well as the local and social infrastructure. Moreover, it finances projects of German and European businesses to assert their position on the global markets. By order of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, it promotes economic and social progress in developing and transforming countries. Moreover, it is tasked with special orders by the Federal Government, such as privatizing state-owned enterprises or handling inherited liabilities from the former GDR.
