Central specialist agency for international youth policy and youth work, working on behalf the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. Its task is to strengthen and further develop international youth work and the cooperation in the field of youth policy. With its work, the specialist agency contributes to mutual understanding among young people from different countries and cultures, promotes the acquisition of intercultural skills, and supports non-formal education processes. It strengthens the international transfer of knowledge in the field of child and youth services thus generating new impetus for the latter. IJAB provides information and counselling for youth organisations, policy-makers and administrations and offers qualification and international exchange to child and youth services specialists. The specialist agency informs young people about funding programmes and provides advice to them on the varied offers to go abroad.
