The German-Brazilian Society is the non-profit, non-partisan and non-denominational association of the Friends of Brazil in Germany. It was founded in 1960 on the initiative of Prof. Dr. Hermann M. Görgen and leading personalities from politics, business and culture in both countries. As one of the most traditional bilateral associations, it has promoted exchange and understanding between the two countries for 60 years.
It is a mediator and contact partner in cultural, historical, economic and political issues and contributes to keeping interest in our large South American partner country alive among the German public and to conveying an up-to-date and comprehensive picture of Brazil. The magazine "Tópicos", which it publishes, as well as lecture evenings, film screenings, concerts, readings, exhibitions or symposia all serve this purpose.
