Funding for international and sustainable projects available

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The Bonn City Council provides funding to organizations for development education projects, to strengthen Bonn's project partnerships and to implement the 2030 Agenda. The content of this funding program is based on the "Future Concept for Bonn as an International Policy Location", which was adopted by the Council on 30 January 2014. The funds are aimed in particular at smaller organizations or initiatives based in Bonn.

The grant for all projects amounts to a maximum of 3,500 euros per measure.

The entire funding for the year 2024 will be awarded with this call. The call is subject to the availability of budget funds. The project duration is set until March 31, 2025. All events must have been completed by this date.

Applications may be submitted until April 30, 2024. The date of receipt at the Federal City of Bonn applies.   Please note that applications submitted too late will not be considered. Sending the application on the last day of the deadline is therefore not sufficient.

The Committee for Europe, International Affairs, Science, Economy and Labor is expected to decide on the allocation of funds at its meeting on July 2, 2024. Projects started before this date are not eligible for funding.

The funding criteria, the application form and the required attachments can be downloaded and completed on the following website of the City of Bonn:  www.bonn.de/aeiwwa-foerdermittel (opens in a new tab) (in German).

Applications until April 30

Interested parties are requested to complete the application form online and attach the relevant annexes (e.g. the expenditure and financing plan). Written applications must be sent to the Department of International Affairs and Global Sustainability, Mr. Florian Büth, Altes Rathaus, Markt, 53111 Bonn, by 30 April 2024. Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to send the application documents digitally.

Applications should include:

  • A fully completed application form. The project description in the application form must clearly explain how the measure to be funded serves the defined objectives (promoting the implementation of the 2030 Agenda or development education work and / or strengthening Bonn's project partnerships).
  • The cost and financing overview form with all expected expenditure and income. Own funds and personal contributions - e.g. in cash, personnel, voluntary work, contributions in kind - must also be listed.

In addition, the desired funding amount must be explicitly stated. This may not exceed 3,500 euros.
