High Quality education in a caring, multicultural environment
Bonn International School (BIS) was founded in 1997, resulting from the fusion of the American Elementary and High Schools und the British High School. BIS is an independent whole-day school running from 8:20 - 15:30 starting in Grade 1. BIS is composed of a kindergarten, Primary School (Grades 1 - 5) and a Secondary School (Grades 6 - 12) and offers its students the International Baccalaureate Diploma at graduation. As of September 2016, the school has ca. 700 students from 74 countries. 100 faculty members come from 15 nations. The school is a non-profit association whose members are parents and school employees. BIS is a recognized international supplementary school (anerkannte internationale Ergänzungsschule) according to state law and is under the supervision of the Ministry for Education and Training NRW.
The school's curriculum is based on the philosophy and methods of teaching of the International Baccalaureate Organization (www.ibo.org). This curriculum is taught world-wide in more than 4.500 schools to ca. 1.000.000 students in 143 countries.
