Ulaanbaatar

The relationship between the capital city of Mongolia and the City of Bonn was established in 1993. One million people live in the city, which corresponds to one fourth of Mongolia’s total population.

Rural exodus leads to a continuous increase in these figures. Being a metropolis caught between traditions and modern trends, Ulaanbaatar is faced with enormous social challenges.

In addition to a lively cultural dialogue and activities in youth exchange, the focus is on municipal exchange of experience and joint project work, especially in the areas of sustainable urban development and environmental protection.

The project partnership is accompanied by the German-Mongolian Society, which also runs its own programmes.
