Christmas market in the city

Event information

Date & Time

Further dates

This year, the Christmas market in the city center will be slightly extended not only in terms of time, but also in terms of space: As in 2018, when the observation tower was located there, Remigiusplatz will be integrated into the pre-Christmas hustle and bustle. The other stalls and booths are distributed on Münsterplatz, Bottlerplatz, Friedensplatz, Windeckstraße, Vivatsgasse and Poststraße.

The range of goods on offer at the approximately 165 stalls will once again focus on handicrafts and Christmas products. Many artisans will let you look over their shoulders as they work. The culinary offerings will also be as varied as usual.

On Advent Saturdays, Christmas brass band music will be played from the scaffolding of Bonn Cathedral from 5 p.m. onwards.

Opening hours:

Sundays to Thursdays 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. (food and drink until 9.30 p.m.)
Fridays and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. (food and drink until 10.30 p.m.)

Weihnachtshaus Bonn ("Christmas House")

Children from 6 to 14 years of age can play, paint and do handicrafts under pedagogical guidance and supervision in the "Christmas House" on Münsterplatz during the Christmas market.

The free program runs from Monday to Friday from 4 to 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 7 p.m..

The leisure program is offered by the "Kleiner Muck" association.

Corona regulations and controls

The City of Bonn will hold the Bonn Christmas Market in the City from November 17, 2021, taking into account the so-called 2G rule (areas marked in yellow). Due to the increasingly critical Corona situation, the city administration has put the previously planned measures to the test and made this decision.

This means that participation in the Christmas market is only permitted for vaccinated and recovered visitors*. However, the 2G rule does not apply to passers-by who merely cross the Christmas market area.

Exceptions to the 2G rule also apply to children up to the age of twelve, as they are regularly PCR-tested in their daycare centers and schools (so-called lollipop test). Adolescents from 12 to 18 years of age require a test no older than 24 hours to participate in the Christmas market.
