Video game music is a genre of its own. With its own laws, with its own composers. In any case, it is music influenced by the great film soundtracks, and before that by composers like Gustav Mahler and Richard Strauss. Majestic, opulent, colourful! And it’s music with its own fans, some of whom travel a long way, celebrating their musical heroines like Star Wars fans celebrate Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda or Princess Leia. Conductor and composer Eímear Noone is one such heroine of the genre. She has composed the music for some of the biggest and most famous video games – those whose names you know even as a layman and which stand for strange and exciting worlds, multi-layered gaming fun and an incredibly large community: Zelda, Super Mario and World of Warcraft, to name but a few. We are delighted to be able to present Eímear Noone to our audience at the Telekom Forum – with a programme of absolute highlights specially put together by her.
