19:15 Concert introduction with Dirk Kaftan and Tilmann Böttcher on stage
In cooperation with WDR
It is 200 years since Ludwig van Beethoven’s most important symphony saw the light of day in Vienna (see also page 104 on 7.5.1824). We bring it to the stage with a magnificent cast. And against one of the heaviest works of Bönn’s Panz, we place one of his lightest (for all its expansiveness): his light-flooded Violin Concerto. It is no coincidence that the last movement of the Ninth is in D major, just like the Violin Concerto. We have great soloists and choirs this evening – it’s hard to single out anyone. We are particularly pleased with the fusion of two outstanding choirs, namely the WDR Rundfunkchor and “ our “ Bonner Opernchor.
